F-DAT Assault Gunship
hyperspace-capable variant of the LAAT
These craft were never made in great numbers. They look like “stockier” versions of the standard LAAT gunships familiar wherever Clone Troops are deployed, but are spaceworthy. Because no one really misses these hulking hybrids, they are used on occasion by black ops teams who need a ship no one will really miss.

Not many of these modified LAAT’s were made. Essentially, an attempt was made to make the popular craft even more versatile by conveying squads through hyperspace instead of needing to deposit the gunships from large capital-scale carriers. The result was a ship that carried fewer soldiers than most missions required, and was too expensive to make it worth mass-production considering its failure to present any real tactical advantage. At the very end of the Clone Wars, one neglected F-DAT was appropriated for use in a secret mission the Jedi did not want the rest of Republic Command to know about, to take over a secret Separatist relay outpost on the planet Jotun.
